Kamiizumi Nobutsuna, the sword user who makes the most of people

The ancestor of swordsmanship

Kamiizumi Nobutsuna, who was born in Kamiizumi Castle in what is now Kamiizumi-machi, Maebashi City, learned swordsmanship from an early age and is well-educated and is known as a samurai of both Bunbu and Budo.

As the fourth generation castle of Kamiizumi Castle, he fought against the large army of Shingen Takeda and Hojo Ujiyasu while protecting the territory, and was called "Ueno Kuni Ippon Yari", and his activities have been handed down to posterity.

He also sought to spread the Shinkage-ryu, where he founded the Shinkage-ryu and traveled around the country with his disciples.

The Shinkage-ryu of Kamiizumi Nobutsuna is still inherited as the Yagyu Shinkage-ryu.

He invented the bag bamboo sword, which is said to be the prototype of the current bamboo sword, and is said to be the ancestor of swordsmanship.

The founder of Shinkage-ryu who learned the sword and mastered the sword

Kamiizumi Nobutsuna, who learned Kage-ryu from Aisu Ikosai as a teacher and Shinto-ryu from Matsumoto Bizen Mamoru, including Nen-ryu, which is said to be one of the three major sources of Japanese military law, will master the mystery and create a new Kage-ryu. ..

After the fall of Minowa, he traveled around the country with his disciples to spread the Shinkage-ryu, and introduced all of the Shinkage-ryu to Munetoshi Yagyu, who he met.

The Shinkage-ryu was handed down by Munetoshi Yagyu as the Yagyu Shinkage-ryu, and is still called the Yagyu Shinkage-ryu and has been handed down as it was at that time.

In addition, Shinkage-ryu was derived from schools such as Hikita-ryu, Taisha Ryu, and Kamigo-ryu.

The spirit of Kamiizumi Nobutsuna has supported Tokugawa 300 years as a "live man sword", that is, a sword that makes the most of people.

Kamiizumi Nobutsuna, who greedily learned the sword and pursued the strength of the sword, is also called "Kensei."

The spirit of Kamiizumi Nobutsuna who is still alive

The 64-year-old Kamiizumi Nobutsuna heads to his hometown of Joshu.

There is no record of the steps taken from there, and it remains a mystery in his later years, but one theory is that after performing the memorial service for the 13th anniversary of his son Hidetsugu, who died in the Shimousa Kokufu Taisen battle, Yukitsuna Minamoto, a child of his second wife. It is said that he headed for the Odawara Hojo family, where Yukitsuna served.

And in the 10th year of the Tensho era, the 75-year-old Shinto is breathless. (There are various theories)

Details remain unknown, but Kamiizumi Nobutsuna spent his last years as a martial artist and lived in swordsmanship.

And even now, in Kamiizumi-cho, Maebashi City, where Kamiizumi Nobutsuna was born, Kamiizumi-cho and Kaigaya district, where temples and shrines related to the castle are located, are designated as "Shinkage-ryu sacred place, Kensei no Sato". "Festival" is held to celebrate the achievements of Kamiizumi Nobutsuna.
